"The Stone Condemned to Weigh" (2018) is a conceptual piece consisting of a marble slab inscribed with the phrase "Your body is death given," accompanied by an original poem by the artist. The work delves into death as a fundamental, unifying force and invites contemplation on the physicality and transience of human existence as part of a natural cycle.
First exhibited in 2018 at the 1m² Art Gallery in Veliko Tarnovo, the work was curated by Martina Yordanova and presented with drawings. 2023, it was featured in the "Fear and Love" exhibition at the Vaska Emanouilova Gallery in Sofia, curated by Galina Dimitrova-Dimova. The curatorial perspective frames the piece as an exploration of the fear of death, proposing embracing mortality to experience life fully.
Curator Galina Dimitrova-Dimova on the work:
"The selected piece engages with the theme of the fear of death—the oldest and still one of the most relevant fears, which often prevents people from fully experiencing life. The project presents a marble slab inscribed, 'Your body is death given.' In this work, the artist reflects on what connects and unites us—our bodies and their transience.”
